Everything we sell has been designed and chosen with introverts in mind. No overly bright colors or noisy patterns. Subtly (or not so subtly) worded phrases on t-shirts and personal items that let those around you know you’re introverting in your quiet space and to give you time alone. We see them as gentle ‘do not disturb’ signs for the extroverts in your life.
Self-care is important for everyone, but more so for introverts. When we have the right environment for success we can fly. So, slip into the zone with a great book while enjoying the soft scent of a flickering candle, get all hygge with pillows and throws as you take time to write in your journal, knit a scarf or color an intricate design.
We live with what Susan Cain, author of Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking, calls the “extrovert ideal,” where confident, entertaining speakers control the conversation with insubstantial chatter, overpowering the insightful introverts in the room who have thought the problem through and have the answers. The extrovert’s bold manner is more important than the substance of their arguments.
But that’s not the way introverts work, not the way half the world works. And we need to quietly - but insistently - make ourselves heard. By creating a world around us that feeds our needs and supports our strengths, we can move mountains. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “In a gentle way, you can shake the world” - and he did.
Introverts need a place to replenish energy, foster creativity and allow our insights and leadership to shine in the world. We have power, quiet power, and we need to use it more. I’m Introverting is here to help you do that.
